I have visited this massage clinic several times and can safely say that this is one of the best places I have ever received a massage. From the moment you walk in the door, you feel a calm and cozy atmosphere. Every time I visited the clinic I was offered different massage options and the massage therapists were very professional and caring.

Great massage clinic. I had an injury after my training and they were able to relax and recover my muscles in 2 sessions.

"Don’t Crack Your Spine: Addressing Muscle Spasms."

October 27, 20242 min read

At Energy Flow Clinic, I frequently encounter athletes who are surprised by how muscle spasms are handled.

Recently, a professional athlete came to us for massage therapy. He told me that his team therapist didn’t think there was a major issue with his muscles and suggested cracking his spine to fix it. Honestly, that shocked me! Never do that! Thankfully, he chose to come to us instead.

During our session, as we worked on his back muscles, we discovered deep spasms not just in his back, but also in his neck and left leg. While our massage therapist focused on relaxing those muscles, our client was surprised to hear a click in his back without any direct manipulation of his spine. He asked, “What was that?” and was pleasantly surprised to learn that the relaxation in his muscles had allowed a section of his spine to realign itself. Funny, isn’t it?

This experience really highlights why it’s so important to address muscle spasms first. When one side of your back muscles spasms, it can pull your spine out of alignment, pushing it to the opposite side. This can lead to:

  1. Pain: You might feel increased discomfort in your back and other areas.

  2. Nerve Issues: Muscles can compress nerves, causing tingling or weakness.

  3. Poor Posture: Ongoing tension can mess with your posture.

  4. Limited Movement: You might find it hard to move comfortably or do daily activities.

  5. Increased Injury Risk: You could be more prone to injuries during sports or exercise.

Now, if someone tries to crack your spine without addressing the muscle spasms first, it can have some serious downsides:

  1. Temporary Relief: You might feel better for a moment, but it won’t solve the real problem.

  2. Worsening Symptoms: The pain can come back quickly.

  3. Injury Risk: You could get hurt if your muscles aren’t ready for manipulation.

  4. Increased Muscle Tension: Your body might tighten up even more.

At Energy Flow Clinic, we believe in treating muscle spasms first for lasting relief. Our approach focuses on understanding your unique situation and providing the right care to help you feel your best. If you're dealing with muscle issues or just want to talk about your body, we’re here for you! Let’s work together to get you back on track.
